Actually greenie has probably dealt a mortal blow to excess margin use another of his pet projects.
He considers home values a source of wealth effect as well. Increasing interest rates would hit this as well.

Bought my first condo at a fixed rate 16%
had student loans accruing at 3.5% above the 90 day T Bill rounded up to the next highest integer at 21% for a while.
