You raise some excellent points.

The precedent set by the court would have incredible ramifications.

Using the same logic as Judge Edmunson (sp), a Canadian Judge hearing a custody case between an American parent and a Canadian parent might be inclined to give custody to the Canadian parent. With all the drive-by shootings and the higher murder rate per capita in the US, the judge might deem that America is an unsafe place to raise a child.

Similarly, American judges might be inclined to remove parental rights because of the part of town the parents live in.
