Gene,

Is it possible that HP produced their own 2+2 mobo for Kayak and that's why they are able to solve the problem by supplying RIMM's?

I am absolutely guessing, but I suppose it's possible. I never saw the benefit of a 2+2 board, though since you can't mix memory types. A lot of extra board space, connectors, etc. that go to waste. I doubt it helps with the manufacturing costs (save costs from forecasting the SKUs incorrectly, but lose costs from having the extra crap on board).

I haven't looked at the HP Kayak site. Does it say that they're doing 2+2 boards?
