TERN, GNET shorts did well into the close. HWP.. was dying to post the short but lost my adelphia and mindspring link for about 3 hours. Lightened up even before the close as I mentioned but I'm still holding a 'basket of techs' 100-200 of the top of the litter. I don't want to be completley out of the game because I've got tons of e-mail from frustrated investors who didn't get out so I see the 'edge' even with the FMOC meeting. Anyhow I don't think it will be too late to short LCOS which was another choice but I just couldn't get it in time.

Susan, its difficult because of the huge gains of our 'strong stocks with very wide intraday trading ranges' on rallies. Its so tempting to take the profits, then you have to consider those 'stuck' in stocks since March who are cutting their loses by 20% in some of the better techs and want out. Not to mention the Fed meetings. If you are invested in small amounts for the time being you won't get hurt too much and if you are worried than I would stay clear until Tuesday is over and done with. Shorts did well during these few weeks, as did longs in energy sectors, some pharmaceuticals, oil service, selected Dow stocks. The tech sector will recover but we should learn to take the profits next time and never let the 'speculative bubble' get that big without lightening up. We still have support at even lower levels and the lower we go, the higher we'll bounce when the time is right.

As long as you don't find yourself getting junk and scalping for 1 point or less you won't find yourself supporting your local discount brokerage at your expense. Stick with companies that have great prospects, a niche in a sector, actual earnings and not a 'one day wonder'. Even great stocks can turn into 1 day holds, but at least you have the 'option' of holding them when you know their fundamentals and relative performance ranks in the last few earnings quarters and possibly even going forward.

hi Susan ..save your pennies, this investor-centric PC wave is going to be big ...very big - all the "boomer traders in training" now will have everything they need, simply because we always do...
