Aus, rumors abound that palm is set to unveil plans for expandable Palm units a la the Handspring Visor. It would be incredible if CompactFlash or even SD/MMC were to be used.

Current Palm suffer from the use of a serial interface (SLOW) on the base of the unit. But this is how current add-on Palm peripherals work as of right now. It is conceivable that a standard IDE chipset could be included in future Palm models that would enable the Palm OS to use it..

A Handspring module that allows IDE CompactFlash to work could easily be developed, and as a matter of fact, the Innogear MiniJam MP3 Player Springboard Module uses Sandisk MMC cards that are easily accessible by the Handspring Visor for backup and storage.
