Ken, Of course there are problems with Nexabit. I have said it before. the box sucks, right along side the Versalar (95% of the engineers on that project are now gone) and places like the 1200 pound Avici and others....The nexabit people never put SW into the box. there was an attempt at porting bgp and other protocols into an ASIC driven effort.....what a joke.

Overall, it was a small acquisition. Technology has been gleaned. the guys are leaving for a new venture. I personally hope that the biggest mouth on the planet, M. Chatter, gets stuffed when he tries to sell another bottle of snake oil in the future. he is so full of hot air, the entire new england region should have experienced a nuclear winter. btw, vulcan Ventures is rumored to have been sucked into his new play (likely because they made $$ on the last one(. this time, they had better be praying for an IPO.

Imo other than JNPR and those willing to buy the CSCO enterprise 12k, there will be no other significant players in the terabit router space.

Ken,
It is not just LU that is having problems getting its high end router to work on real Internet traffic. There are only two companies that have products that are selling in the ISP space - Cisco and Juniper. Apparently even Cisco is having big problems with its OC192 and the throughput of its GSR12016. I hear big M160 contracts are flowing into Juniper these days. We have been a big Juniper buyer this week.

BTW I am hearing NT is having huge problems with the Versalar 25000 and may quietly cancel it. Almost all the routing talent at Bay is long gone. The rumor is that NT will try to forge a marketing relationship with Juniper.
