$20B in revenues up from $12B up from $8B. Phenomenal growth story. Market size,.. smaller than GE's - maybe but not by much yet demonstrating far greater growth.

That said - relative to COMS. CSCO is executing and growing market share. Compared to COMS who failed and is exiting markets.

Point - we were comparing CSCO and COMS... not CSCO and GE. GE is a great company and a great investment and I believe CSCO is too. CSCO has had a knack of being able to execute in what is a trillion $ market today and growing. They represent only about 2% of all $ outlays for telecom infrastructure a new market which they are just now penetrating. If they execute they could continue to grow well.

Did you notice that even at their large size they had 55% revenue growth last quarter (traditionaly their toughest quarter)... the most % growth they've had in 3 years. Pretty awesome. In the meantime COMS is showing slowing revenues and is exiting the enterprise market.

So, which is a better investment? I guess if COMS turns around they have more upside but that's a big if given historical failures. On the other hand CSCO has executed and if they continue to do so and penetrate new optical, telephony, and broadband markets then growth should do well and it should be reflected in valuation.
