Heard that figure also last month.

Of course that still leaves many more trillions intact of extraordinary historical gains over the last few years.

The 2 trillion is vanished. Kaput. Just like losing on paper in ones portfolio. Don't know when or how much will be replaced, or yet to evaporate, and how hard it will be to make it back up.

One way to look at it is like driving a new car off the lot. You lose thousands of dollars in value right off. Not much better than taking out a few thousand out of the ATM and throwing it out a speeding car or some silly thing without getting to enjoy it, but it is all psychological I suppose.
