Mike, I wonder if any of the apologists can explain to me why I shouldn't consider Cowpland a bare-faced liar after making what appears to me to be false and misleading statements for his entire career? I'm willing to suspend my opinion if they simply provide me with a valid explanation for every major statement he has made on the record that never materialized. They have now started with cheap threats in an effort to intimidate the critics from expressing their opinions.

In November of last year Cowpland made the following public statement:

********************************************
Corel's strategy for getting its Linux OS into the market is threefold. It will work with PC makers to pre-install Linux on PCs. It has already inked deals with Compaq Computer Corp. and Toshiba Corp., Cowpland said.
********************************************

Now, what happened with this? I know I was as surprised as Compaq and Toshiba were, please give me the details folks. I'm all ears.

********************************************
Although a version of its Linux OS is available for free download online, the company will sell upgrades on the Web. More importantly in terms of revenue, Corel will sell corporate licenses and support contracts for its OS...

...In addition to those developers, Corel has a localization team based in Dublin, Ireland, working on 25 language versions of Linux. "We will distribute it in multiple languages very soon."
********************************************

OK, what happened here? How many languages is the Linux, that Corel essentially borrowed from Debian and put its sticker on, available in? I am sitting here with an open mind waiting for the apologists to change it.

Mike,

These transparent plants are having precisely the opposite effect they intended. We could spend a week posting claims made by Cowpland that disappeared into the aether only to be replaced by a new angle after the previous was quietly forgotten. The troubling question is who is cashing in on the long side and then on the short side following the predictable crash? What possible motivation is there for continuing to step all over one's credibility? What is to be gained from that and why does he keep doing it? I hope those prosecuting Cowpland's illegal insider trading charges examine all of the activity in this stock with a fine toothed comb.

Mike,

You are dreaming if you think that the Ottawa area is enamoured of Cowpland. He has his admirers, but his style doesn't go well at all in this city. His old partner, Terry Matthews ex of Newbridge, commands far more respect
