They don't offer handsets to begin with.

Indeed they don't, what Inmarsat does offer is C-O-V-E-R-A-G-E.

I've always been amused by the James Bond factor regarding the "handsets".

What customers want is C-O-V-E-R-A-G-E. Compare the coverage maps of Inmarsat and Globalstar and the story speaks for itself. Note all the places where you cannot use your sexy handset vs. the utilitarian notebook/laptop sized Inmarsat terminal.

On top of that is the questionable demand and demographics of the number of users who will be customers of Globalstar (#reply-11665407, #reply-11666902, #reply-11684987), where as Inmarsat seemed to have been "sized" very nicely for accomodating the extant and future demand (hence their 4th generation constellation order this past week).
