I'm just coming to realize that I'm in the middle of a lot of Canadian nationals with Canadian issues toward one of their countryman (Cowpland). As an "American" investor, I'm not walking around with that sort of baggage, and look at Cowpland as the CEO of a global corporation with a Canadian (read: PC desktop) take on things. --- Please all, appreciate the perspective that a non-Canadian investor would look upon Corel with. This Ottowa social news is of absolute zero interest to me as is almost all of the Corel news items with an Ottowa or Toranto headline. --- I installed Corel Linux 1.0 today on my wife's (Gateway P-75 40mb RAM) PC. I'm here to tell you that having experience with every other distribution of Linux, *this distribution is by far the superior desktop distro (although I haven't checked out the 2.4 desktop OpenLinux). It's the most familar (by far) for a Windows desktop user to work with, and is so to a degree that this will replace a Win 3.11 installation in place of upgrading Windows. It is CLEAR to me that the next version of Corel Linux is going to be a quite competitive alternative for the typical PC user. Should Microsoft, as part of an antitrust remedy be made to make their API's transparent and/or Intuit decide to port Quicken to Linux, *this distro is going to be in the cat bird seat. --- I'm not "pumping" Corel equity. I've made a good profit from my holdings (selling off 40% at $25). Corel could fold tomorrow and I'm still happy with my investment. I just wanted to post that as a *nix user (and a desktop *nix sceptic), I'm quite impressed with what Corel has put together. I would recommend that anyone who hasn't tried Corel Linux to give it a try. I installed the LinuxMall version which I obtained for 99 cents from LinuxMall.com. Don't let people with wierd emotional issues cloud your view of Corel's Linux product. Download it or otherwise obtain it and decide for yourself. -JCJ

I was not unaware of Cowpland's support for Chiarelli, just questioning the assertion that he is viewed with unabashed admiration here...
