Gemstar survey: I decided on a public post rather than a private post, because the concept is worthy of public discussion. While GMST has all the attributes of a gorilla, the ultimate question is whether we have a confirmed tornado, since by definition, we cannot have a gorilla without a tornado. Last year I attempted to infer a tornado, not from GMST revenues, but from shipments of EPGs in TVs and cable boxes.Hoping to get a jump on the S curve, I concluded that we had enough evidence to believe that the tornado had begun. In a different market,perhaps a brilliant move. In todays market, absolutely premature.
