Correct me if I am wrong, but ICO has a total of ZERO satellites in its constellation. It may be premature to classify them as competition at this point.

Thanks all for the compliments on my summary. It's nice to know one's effort is appreciated. :o)

Jim--I agree with your points, particularly that BS is looking to some bulk ("wholesale"?) sales through Airtouch, and that this could have a big effect. At least I hope that's where the marketing effort has been going!

RS--Thanks for the point on ICO/McCaw. My take on McCaw's activities has been that he is commiting minimal resources while he waits to see how G* (specifically) and the satellite market (generally) works out. He will do what he can to be ready to move fast once he is satisfied that the risk is lower than it might seem right now. But, otoh, I haven't been following his doings closely, recently.
