It probably is faster, but they don't need to make it faster unless they have to right?

BTW, my parent's house in Los Alamos is OK.

Scumbria,

That's good to hear. I was shocked to learn that the fire was started by the Forest Service doing a controlled burn. Aside from the fact that controlled burns are controversial, to do one in Los Alamos with the weather service predicting low humidity and high winds is unconscionable.

I am sorry the people of Los Alamos had to pay for such negligence.

Scumbria <It seems odd that T-Bird is not any faster than Athlon, given the smaller transistors and copper wires. I wonder what's going on? I've been out of the country all week, so please excuse me if this has already been discussed.>

I think it's perfect. Now Athlon Select replaces Athlon at the high end and blows away Pentium in benchmarks. Many IT guys I know are still unimpressed with the 1 Gig Athlons because of their performance vs Pentiums (as reported by PC Mag). Why release processors now above 1 gig when few people are even buying the 1 gig?! Save it for later, then release them as Willamette is released. Just staying one step ahead of the competition will strengthen AMD's (the stock) run - and benefit shareholders.

Dave

Glad you had a good time, welcome back.

Until Intel can really fill the gap, I can see why they'd want to leave headroom open.
