Unfortunately, Intel complicated the market quite a bit with several different releases of the Pentium III.

Some models have 256k cache, others have the full 512k, some run at 100Mhz, others at 133Mhz. Unfortunately, I don't have my spec sheet handy, but the place where you purchase your parts would be able to tell you the complete story.

In your case, since you have so much PC-100 RAM, you're limited to the 100Mhz version. For cost/performance I wouldn't go higher than 600-650Mhz, but you can go up to 1Ghz if you really want to shell out the dollars (not recommended).

As far as I know, all the Pentium II-III's currently come in SECC Slot-1 format. Slot-2 is for the Xeon chips, and Slot-A is for Athlon's. Intel is looking to move all P3's to the Socket 370 PPGA soon, but not for a few more quarters from what I heard.

*Note* I haven't looked up processor / board / slot specs in a while, so take this with a grain of salt at the least. :)
