sundance-

How come some people on this thread never do respond to newbies. There are about 12 people that have come over here in the past 3 months and there are several on here that never will engage them, even when spoken too. Is this thread sacred ground ?

no way dude. it's a free for all. there's 1752 guitar pickers in nashville so some of the best licks just get drowned out. ya gotta just keep pickin'. i can't read all the posts here any more cuz' there's too many. after you've been on the porch awhile you'll have so many PMs and phone calls - it's even harder to read or write so you kinda pick and choose what to take care of first. clappy'll answer to me anytime because he knows if he don't i'll show up at his house and that would scare his wife. some people are better about answering mail than others. some people have more going on than others. ME? i just gave up sleepin' 8 hours and cut it down to 3 or 4.

some of us that are really close have sort of an unspoken rule that we leave each other alone most of the time because we know how many others are wanting to communicate. voltage and i rarely post to each other and when we do it's usually with something that doesn't require a reply.

dealer's been really good at welcoming newbies but she also posts news, afterhours quotes, answers the phone and private mail. it's a bigger job than one maid can handle. she's takin' a well deserved vacation right now so others are pitchin' in more than usual.

we gotta lota good people here and we always have room to put ya up somewheres - ya might have to sleep on the floor sometimes.

so go tell yer buddies we're sorry if any of 'em ever got slighted. hell, when i came in, it wasn't very crowded here but still, i treated it as a BYOB (bring yer own buddies). if you get ignored, it means we like ya. otherwise we'd chase you off.

love,

-polvie

Sunshadow,

I think you got the wrong Porch.

I know for sure that Ms. Dealer personally welcomed at least 1,000 of the new people over the past 3 months, because I was one of them.

I've yet to see an answerable question go unanswered.
Often comments that are posted just go by because there are another 100 posts to read.

I've yet to find a message board that was friendlier.

Is this thread Sacred Ground?

You bet it is.

There's more love and good thoughts being spread around than any other cyber Porch I've seen.

Spread your love.
What are you about?
Got any good stories?

All newbies apply.

I'm always interested in a story. Pull up a rockin' chair and tell us about yourself.
What are your passions?

oh, and another thang to tell yer buddies. be sure that if they're addressing a particular person that they go to one of his or her prior posts and click "respond" so it'll show up in their inbox. some days i've not had time to read or respond (respond = make wisecracks) to a single post on the porch other than the ones that were in my inbox.

Hi again sunshadow,

Sorry if any newbies ever got the impression we won't respond. It may have been a time element which definitely affects my ability to respond. Tonight is one of the few nights where I can get a few hours to really mix it up with the gang.

There are no ego problems here, except those of us trying to vie for the worst humor post. All newbies should feel very welcome.

Later,

Joel
