I believe we are talking about the same "dividend".

I don't believe it will increase the value of SanDisk's holdings. It is simply a stock split as I have interpreted the information posted on other boards here on SI. SanDisk, Alliance Semiconductor, SIII and a couple of other companies have similar press releases regarding the stock dividend.

They analysts asked Dan Reddy, the CEO of Alliance Semiconductor, about their equity holdings and which ones they would consider selling. Alliance is the single largest private shareholder of UMC at this point. Reddy is on the BOD at UMC. He stated...

"We are bullish on UMC."

I take that to mean they have no intention of selling any shares, even when the waiting period has expired.
