Monty,

I simply have no sympathy for thieves, regardless of openness.

BTW, IMHO, a country where the electorate cannot judge the relative seriousness of lying about ones private sexual behavior (which has no public impact) vis-a-vis taking bribes (which has enormous public impact) deserves exactly the kind of politicians that the quoted article talked about.

Thankfully, USA at large is rather different.
