SAP may spend up to $1 bln to buy companies - WSJ

NEW YORK, May 16 (Reuters) - German business-management
software maker SAP AG <SAPG.DE> <SAP.N> is looking to spend as
much as $1 billion in the next 12 months or so to buy companies
in an effort to get its hands on critical Internet technologies,
according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.
The company is in talks with a few candidates now and could
announce the first deal within the next month or so, said SAP's
co-chief executive, Hasso Plattner, in an interview.
