When the #1 producer of electrical power generation equipment says there are reliability, efficiency, & safety issues - I tend to believe them.

Yes, I know there are functioning fuel cells which use greatly diverse fuels. The question remaining is, "Can we, in a cost effective safe manner, move this technology from the no holds bared world of NASA in the mass production environment of consumer power generation & consumption quickly enough to really impact the situation"?

As the price of every single BTU of energy produced(regardless of use) in these United States has already increased greatly without ANY impact from this technology, I must conclude it won't happen before there is a negative impact from price increases.

There will be actual brown-outs from shortages of generation capacity in these United States this summer yet there are no units available for use in homes at a competitive per KW price.

Despite a painful increase in gasoline, diesel, & natural gas(transport fuels), no auto manufacturer says they can deliver any units into the market in less than two model years. It should be noted that DCX, GM, TM & HMC are also talking about cost issues.
