Re: DSL Stats- Alcatel Lines Deployed Thread- IMO, there is a dearth of MSO news about cable modem connections, and lot's of news about DSL. I'm not sure what is going on? No one expected DSL to overtake HFC this year. I believe most estimates had DSL overtaking HFC sometime in 2003. No recent news of customer figures could be just a simple lack of PR on the MSO side. Or it could be something substantial is happening in the access space no one predicted. Anyway, here are some astounding figures out of Alacatel(sym:ALA). Of course one has to keep in mind they are the world leader in DSL. Owning something like 50% of the market. -MikeM(From Florida) PS Before making any investment decisions, anyone from this thread should check out my posts on the ALA thread. Weird things going on with the financials that I can't figure out. _______________________________Fast Internet Access: Alcatel ships One Million DSL Lines in first 4 Months of 2000 First quarter 2000 shipments up nearly 750% over same period last year PARIS May 17, 2000--Alcatel, the world leader in DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) solutions, announces today that it has shipped one million central office DSL lines to its worldwide customer base during the first four months of this year , bringing Alcatel's installed base to a total of 2.7 million lines .
