If McLuhan could only see how right he was with the 'global village' prediction, eh. Yes, the greater ease of communications affects economics first, that's to be expected, but i see for it profound positive effects in politics as well. We have just taken on a small job as Trusted Native Guides -g- and translators for a group of cubano entertainers coming to play a week-long children's festival ... they will be accompanied by a representative of their government's Institute of Friendship With The Nations [or something like that - a propaganda pusher, you can tell eh] ... i very much hope that it is the same rep i once nailed in a question period following his speech, and i intend to again demand an answer as to why i cannot speak freely one-on-one with individual cubanos via the internet, email, chat groups, bulletin boards, etc ... wish me luck ... they know this would kill their hold on people ... and it will, you know it will in the end ... lol
