Frankly I am surprised Nok wouldnt try to buy Qcom outright with Q stock where it is and NOK stock at close to a high. I guess the conflict of interest in ASIC biz is a deterent.

Ericsson officials predict that the GSM/WCDMA market will ultimately account for 70%-75% of the world wide market in the coming years. (Remember that this statistic emanates from what is now a neutral and unbiased party.) That is where the emphasis is and should be. As large as the balkanized U.S. market appears to North American investors, in the future, if not already, its size as a percentage of the worldwide market will be measured in the single digits. The only practical reasons for anyone to use CDMA2000 are because of favorable terms in vendor financing or nationalism.
