Telxon Announces New PTC-2000 Palm-Sized Computer Sets New Standard in the Palm-Size Computing Market
CINCINNATI and CHICAGO, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Telxon Corporation

mobile information and wireless communications systems, announced its
PTC-2000, a sturdy, lightweight palm-sized computer ideal for today's mobile
computing environment, at the opening of the FMI 2000 Supermarket Industry
Show in Chicago, yesterday. The PTC-2000 delivers unprecedented flexibility
by combining an easy-access, industry-standard Type II PC Card slot and
integrated numeric keypad for rapid data entry with a powerful processor
utilizing Microsoft(R) Windows CE software capabilities. General availability
for the PTC-2000 is scheduled for June 2000 domestically and internationally.
The PTC-2000 provides customers a low cost of ownership and enables them

the-shelf," industry-standard Type II PC cards and applications written in the
widely-popular Windows CE environment.

warehousing and distribution, transportation and logistics, route sales, and
many other horizontal applications, the PTC-2000's ruggedized, ergonomic
design offers the best features of a PDA-like form factor plus the integration

The PTC-2000's monochrome display offers a generous 3.8" diagonal viewing
area with back light feature for indoor, outdoor or low-light environments.
Also included in the feature-packed PTC-2000 are an IrDA interface, serial
port and an optional integrated laser barcode scanner. Ensuring optimum
uptime, the PTC-2000 can be powered with either a rechargeable 1450 mAh Ni-MH
battery pack or 3 AA batteries. And to keep work interruptions to a minimum,
a Li-lon Bridge battery lets the user hot-swap batteries while running an
application.
