At the low end Epson ink jet printers are the favorites of designers everywhere. This is something that has developed over the past two years. I don't know anyone who would recommend any other type. Their printers do a particularly good job printing color images, to the extent that even a cheap 750Photo model can be used for proofing. HP no longer makes printers for the Mac, effectively deleting them from the design market, however I understand they are strong in the business world. Probably because although they do a poor job printing they tend to last longer.
