You're right about it being an attempt to spin a situation.

That is a very necessary part of image building which when accompanied by subsequent execution can have an awesome impact on your own personnel as well as your competition. If EMC performs in gaining dominant market share over NTAP in two to three years they will instill a fear in future competitors that may well cause capitulation without a fight on kindred technologies as they evolve. Competitors may decide not to enter a market against EMC because they will "get" you eventually just like they "got" NTAP.

I admire EMC because their every move is a preparation for eventual domination. It's kind of like our World War II American military. (before it became feminized) Just would not settle for second place. It's Pattonesque. I think it exudes class. I own both and still love both companies of course. The only wasy to play storage is to own both IMO.
