Intel is putting all it's eggs in one basket - the same basket that has brought us the 820 + MTH + SDRAM and 820 + RDRAM debacles.

If you are nobody, and have nothing to lose, it may be a sound strategy. But for a $400 billion which has no reason to risk it all, to me it seems like a silly strategy. We will see.

If one element fails (Willy, the single Willy chipset source, Intel motherboards, insufficient RDRAM) we will see the mother of all shortages in Q4. And possibly, the mother of all market cap contractions. If the bet works, we may see few percentage points on the upside (for Intel). Do you like the odds?
