I approached Dortmunder early this morning with tremulous trepidation. "Did you see the article?" I asked gingerly. To which article do you refer? You are not a very precise fellow" he said. "The article about you in theStreet.com this morning. Guy took a few real good shots at you...tried to make a monkey out of you." I took a step back, waiting for an outburst. Dortmunder just chuckled. "I don't read the Street.com, nor Barron's, nor the Wall St. Journal nor the dozens of other pushers of stocks" he said. "And can you recall what this chap said?" he asked. "He said (quote), "YOU DON'T WANT A CHIMP, EVEN A TALENTED ONE, PICKING STOCKS IN THESE MARKETS" (end quote). Again he chuckled. "And did he happen to mention that the chimp in question, me obviously, has done quite well during the recent bear market by selling short." "Well...no, he didn't." "I thought not" said Dortmunder, reaching for a scone (I'd learned that he has them flown in from Bermuda). "Well, at least you now know that this chap and perhaps others at the Street.com read Jenna's Market Gems." Dortmunder chuckled again, snorted, carefully masticated his scone, washed it down with his tea, waved me away and returned to his charts. (Lee)
