Ray,

I applaud your post, not necessarily for what you say, but for saying it. I have a lot of respect for Tom Dorsey, altho I have no personal basis for it, just from observation from afar. But sometimes I feel this thread has the aura that no one wants to tell 'the emporer has no clothes' (not specfically referring to TD).

The fact is everyone wants to shed the best possible light on their service. Another service I like is briefing.com. They continue to pat themselves on the back for calling for a 'rolling thunder correction' in the markets this year.
As a matter of fact, in their Stock Brief this morning, they said it again...

'We coined the phrase
"Rolling Thunder Correction" for this type of market movement.

And we predicted it.

We first began discussing the "Rolling Thunder Correction" in our Stock Briefs of January 03 and January 10 of this
year.'

But the truth is (for those who have followed closely), there were multi views in early January and briefing chose to go w/ the one that bore out the correct hypothesis.***

So what's the point? the point is... buyer beware.
Do I need to say that there's no holy grail and no one is right all the time.

Thanks again for the post.

---
***it is true however, that the writer of this mornings piece was the originator of the 'rolling thunder correction' so he is correct in saying he called for it... but what about the other writers there?!

btw, I still regard briefing.com highly. it and DWA are 2 of the best bang-for-the-buck services out there.

<<What is the purpose of this thread?>>

I have always viewed this thread as an interactive help zone for new people. You can get advice straight from the people who know this TA best.

<<If DWA thinks everything is fine then how can they improve the service.>>

My experience is that they make new improvements almost every month. Now, I have only used the service for about 2 years so I can't speak for changes prior to that.

<<There is an "I told you so" attitude. That is a fact. It is so prevalent that many posters are shamed into statements like "well it was just my greed" "I will know next time". Truth is they won't.>>

Nobody is shamed into saying anything. If you read shame into any posts it's because that poster went against the current indicators. This IS NOT a tradable market (nasdaq) for most people. The advice currently on the table from DWA is to avoid most nasdaq issues. The problem is people see what they perceive to be a great price on that formerly hot tech stock and dive in without looking for buried damage in the chart.

<<DWA is a business, they sell a service. >>

Part of this service is advice. I have noticed when I don't follow it I eat crow. The advice isn't right 100% of the time but they know that....and after all, what is?

<<What is being promoted here is that it has worked for 100 years and has worked this time because if you really understand P&F and understood the reports you would have gotten out.
It ain't so. from my experience. And I am saying it!>>

I can't speak for 100 years ago ( my dad wasn't even born yet <g>) but I can say they clearly said get out of the nasdaq in March.

One last thing I would add is when the Nasdaq is moving 5 - 10% per day in one direction or another, to step in is pure gambling. I don't mind taking some gambles and as a result I have both made and lost money in the current market. However, to take a kill the messenger mentality because the market is impossible to predict is erroneous. This system was never intended to be a short term hit and run system. It is a discipline that if followed will provide you better long term odds of doing well in your investments.

Make no bones about it Ray....this is one tough market and you can't fight the fed. The best you can hope to do is out run them is safe sectors.

Ray, Dave, others---I don't think we have a cult situation here. Not at all. What we do have, and I for one think it's something that CAN"T be bought, is an excellent exchange of ideas. TO be able to ask someone like TOM DORSEY a question..one on one...is something that is unheard of in this day. We are very very fortunate to have him here. I will be extremely pissed if he decides to take a break from this thread. Just try getting anyone who's service you use to respond as quickly and insightfully in any aspect of your life and you will see that TD is and has been here for us. I' d be surprised if your inlaws would respond as fast as TD does<gg>.

Do you really think that DWA makes any money off the $25-35 accounts? NFW! In fact I'm surprised that they even bother with us. If they were to eliminate the cheap seats I guarantee that many would pick up the full report as a result. THere is no way I could stay in business without up-to-the-second charts. I would pay whatever they want to keep them as a result. If DWA were to sell out to a big house like MER, and I'm willing to bet they're watching, we would all be without.
Every time they add some other feature I'm amazed and quite surprised that the price doesn't go up.

As far as the real Tom..the man. I think he's one of the greatest and most giving people I've ever met. He's funny and very smart, but never condescending..not at all. He is more than happy to sit and talk about anything you care to bring up. I know if I were in his position I'd be more interested in SLEEP than listening to another person ramble on about their positions and problems..but that's me, not Tom. Imagine if everytime the market went the wrong way you were somehow supposed to answer for and explain what is happening and what and where it went wrong. THat's a job even the clergy can't handle. I think his frustration is very understandable.
Let's give the guy credit for trying and doing his best. Which, by the way, is unparalleled within the industry. Don't you think his time is scarce? Do you think there are probably 1000 things he needs to be doing that ACTUALLY MAKE HIM MONEY, other than posting to DWA thread? I do.

Not trying to hack anyone off here, but let's keep things in perspective

Adios,

Kirk
