there are no profits on internet sales-so you have it all wrong. people who buy on internet often wrongly don't pay use taxes. this leads some to buy on internet and not from a company with a bricks and mortar store. fact that if hypothetically a company actually made profits by having a site on the internet, it would pay income tax is quite irrelevant- as they don't even plan to make a profit for years
