I think it's within the realm of possibilities that Cuba sees democracy for the first time before Eli n sees puberty ... IF a bloody change of dictators is not imposed by that Miami bunch, and IF the US wakes up and stops isolating the average cubano for the real and imagined sins of Fidel.

In re your comments on population - i notice among the friends of my wife a definite trend to wanting fewer children than their mothers ... but of course the population explosion is already well under way - in 1921 there were fourteen millions of mexicanos, today twice that number lives in the Valle de M‚xico alone ... the regional centre town near our village was in 1960 one kilometre of houses and shops along a road, possibly two thousand souls tops, now the population is officially one hundred thousand but actually quite a lot more ... and still considered frontier, of a sort ... scarey.
