that and buying ahead of the 'relief' rally that everybody knows is coming...happened on the occasion of every rate hike we've had if you remember. market begins to rally about two to three days ahead of the hike, then rallies madly during the week of the hike, and then waits for a day or two to see if the Fed continues to pump liquidity in....

Are we seeing some short covering by those who expected a bigger tank today ahead of the FOMC?

That would imply that there is also very few sellers in this "lack of liquidity in this market". That being implied will also mean that investors are not ready to capitulate and that would also imply a "share choke" if any demand does come into this market. Which does not bode well for bears????
