Barry, >The Santa Clara, Calif., semiconductor giant is teaming with software providers, electronic brokers and top PC makers to push powerful, dual-processor systems aimed at serious online traders.

That's almost funny, 2 CPUs to do online trading. Sounds like the job of an airline pilot or a field engineer...hours of sheer boredom interrupted by moments of stark terror. I mean, how many times in a day are you buying or selling a stock and need the double CPU power? Maybe the day traders, huh?

Barry - who is this guy, Rip Van Winkle? I've been using a 2-processor system since 1997 - It's a dual P6/200, a little long in the tooth now but still servicable, running dual monitors. I saw the rig on a trader's desk at one of my clients, and had to have it. That's more than three years ago. It ran NT4 until I upgraded it to Win2K. Mine is a CPQ but DELL and HP and probably IBM have had these in the market for almost 2 years.

Forbes seems to be a good source on what was happening a couple of years ago, maybe they are in a time warp.
