Malcohm,

How do you know that a stock of yours has soared high "primarily as a result of momentum players"?

One never knows for sure. However, when the fundamentals have not changed significantly, when the volume increases regularly or remains unusually high for weeks or months, and when the stock soars in ways that can only be attributed to momentum players, it' usually a safe bet that the momentum players are the root cause of the stock's increase.

If you have any doubt about it, it's always best to ask an experienced momentum player such as Uncle Frank's evil twin.
