i agree that the market is always right - in a manner of speaking. the argument wouldn't have gotten you anywhere in late '72 for instance.
i mention that date because it marked the end of a pretty heady 20 year or so period of very strong stock market gains. public participation was at a then record high, only recently surpassed. certainly no-one seriously contemplated the possibility of a devastating bear market. i'm not saying that's what we'll get...i really don't know that. only that it's possible. somebody is buying the top tick at some point...

as for the PM stocks, a) you can't fall far from a basement window, and b) they have lately shown some perkiness and volume. so i'd definitely give the nascent trend a chance to blossom a bit...
