Let's say you have this monopolist company that becomes convinced that there is this big new technology on the way. Let's say this new technology gets a high-level worker from your one and only competitor. Let's further assume you have this mistress that really likes you and whom you pay very well. Don't you think this mistress would be willing to do some favors for you? For example, sell the existing technology for more and the new technology for less than the "fair" value?
