LonMark Interoperability Association Holds Second Annual System Integrator Conference in Conjunction with Spring General Meeting
Products and people come together to demonstrate the latest open interoperable control networking solutions at exciting Paris Conference
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2000-- The LonMark(R) Interoperability Association is holding its second Annual System Integrator Conference on May 19, 2000 immediately following the Association's May 18th Spring General Meeting. Both the General Meeting and the Conference are being held at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France. Leading companies from around the globe who are designing, specifying and integrating open multi-vendor control systems based on LonMark products and Echelon Corporation's (NASDAQ: ELON) LonWorks(R) control networks will be attending and participating in the event. The Spring Meeting and SI Conference will provide manufacturers, system integrators, equipment specifiers and design consultants with the latest information on specifying, designing and integrating open interoperable LonMark products and systems.

At the conference, system integrators from around the globe will be discussing LonWorks projects they have installed and highlighting the benefits and cost savings of using LonMark products from multiple vendors. Among the presenters is Karl Gunnar Sjoberg of AF-Totalproject AB who will be discussing a cutting edge installation for a school in Sweden. The facility, located in a village between Malmo and Copenhagen, has been created in a partnership between pupils, officials and villagers, to function as a school, service, culture and sport center for the village. With a focus on environmental correctness, the school facility takes advantage of the myriad energy saving and ecological benefits offered by LonWorks devices and open systems and has become an active community center in which the village can take great pride. This project perfectly illustrates the goals as well as the benefits of using open systems.

Other integrators presenting their projects are: Philippe Benedet of Exprimm detailing his company's work at the Coeur Defense, Mark Davenport of Utah Control Systems presenting information about a new hospital complex in the UK, and Miha Erklavec of Silon with information about a 14-story multi-tenant building in Ljubljana, Slovenia. All of the presenters belong to Echelon Corporation's Authorized Network Integrator (ANI) program. ANIs are members of Echelon's Open Systems Alliance, a group of industry professionals who recognize that devices and systems in a building are not islands of physical or computing capability but rather, that they are vital components of a seamless network of control, information, and services. These companies bring the Association a wealth of expertise from the individuals and projects that are at the forefront of making open interoperable solutions a reality for end-users.

Conference tutorials will also feature several ANIs and include: Open System Specification with Paul Mason of BPW, Open System Design by Fredrik Ramfeldt of Energo, Open System Installation and Configuration led by Earl Gray from Control Contractors, and Open System Monitoring and Control with Philippe Husser of Clemessy.

Also on hand at the conference will be a demonstration of products using LonWorks technology, and open standards developed by the LonMark Association, creating an integrated building control system sharing a common control networking communication infrastructure. The demonstration shows the integration of lighting, HVAC, security and access control using products from 16 manufacturers all sharing data and performing multiple functions seamlessly across multiple subsystems.
