FC standards have resulted in non-interoperable FC products. Faster Ethernet speeds may supplant the benefit of FC. New standards are being formulated (can't recall the name of the technology) to replace FC

Hi DS:

I read in a bullish analyst report on NTAP that one of the possible downsides to NTAP's technology is the fact that it uses Ethernet, which was initially developed to support lower speeds. Of course, that hasn't slowed the speed of Ethernet over the last few years!

Also, regarding FC, did you see the article today on the G&K thread talking about how all the FC Switch companies (minus BRCD) are attempting to develop an FC standard, but BRCD, who (according to their press) has 90% of the market, wants the industry to accept its own technology as the standard? Of course it would be more appropriate on another thread, but could BRCD indeed lead to a gorilla?

Looking forward to Thursday,
Justin
