Will Vodaphone also support the MS version or at least phones that have both versions (DS and MS) for roaming purposes? I guess I am kind of disappointed with this news because it seems like this indicates that VOD won't do HDR overlay even for intermediate 3G but will go with W-CDMA - at least in Britain. Am I interpreting this right? Am over in your time zone these days Mika so keep on posting in the middle of the "night". I'm looking around Germany for CDMA phones and I don't see any. But then I don't see too many Hondas, Toyotas, or Mazdas on the streets of Hannover either. Tom

Ericsson selected to deliver new Vodafone 3G infrastructure

ERICY also has a CDMA infrastructure business as of March (or May) 1999. I wonder what VOD will do if the dates for W-CDMA deployment slip, while 3G CDMA is being deployed in the US, including on Verizon's system - which as we all know is owned in part by VOD.

Choosing NOK for its infrastructure would have meant that VOD was throwing its future with W-CDMA somewhat irrevocably.

Let's also remember, the ITU (sic) has not yet approved any other 3G system for deployment. Let's see what happens if (as rumored) the ITU opens up 3G that can be used in Europe to CDMA.
