Yeah... the best part will be hearing the Piecyk & Cena spin on the topic. No, it wasn't a surprise.... we never factored this in our projections... we see this as "neutral", but the psychological impact may be positive... cdma2000 is still a viable alternative for GSM operators even though Vodafone just went public with W-CDMA and they had the biggest incentive to choose cdma2000...

The message Unicom has been sending with their recent urban GSM order ramp-up has been pretty clear. Why on earth would they spend so much on GSM in major cities if they intended to build a serious IS-95 network? There still is a possibility for a face-saving compromise. Unicom may expand IS-95 networks in Ulan Bator or whatever and offer it as a mobile solution for yak-herders. This is the variation of the Australian situation, where IS-95 is positioned as the sheepfarmer product for the rural population.
