I have also found the following report, via a thread on the Gilder discussion boards ... seems like Gartner Group agrees ...

Their prediction:

"By 2001, IEEE 802.11 direct-sequence spread spectrum wireless LAN's will dominate wireless technology for use at home, on corporate premises, and in public hot spots -- e.g. airports and hotels (0.8 probability)"

Read the whole report ... it's very good ... and also places perspective on Bluetooth and HomeRF ...
