Hi IceShark; More news from Nanya on DRAM fabrication:

Taiwan's Nanya spending $800M to increase DRAM production
"In 2000, Nanya is expected to break into the top 10 DRAM manufacturers worldwide and became the newest DRAM leader in technology and production volume," said Ken Hurley, president of Nanya North America and Europe, who is based in San Jose. He said the company plans "extensive plant automation" to enable a fast ramp of volume production at competitive costs.

Nanya's Fab 2 is slated to be in full volume production by the middle of 2000.

For reference, here is a recent Nanya statement on RDRAM vs DDR:

March 6, 2000
Nanya eyes top-10 supplier spot
Taiwan-based Nanya Technology Corp. will start sampling a double-data-rate 256-Mbit SDRAM chip in the third quarter and a 128-Mbit DDR in the fourth quarter as it attempts to become a major memory-chip supplier.
...
The company is looking to expand to embedded DRAMs as well as Direct Rambus, although it's not engaged in licensing discussions for the latter.

"We're waiting to see how Direct Rambus does in the market before making any decisions," Hurley said.

P.S. Re Nelson; After John Paul Jones, one of my favorite heroes. Due to his years of combat, the guy was missing more body parts than any other commander I have ever read of. And no two parts lost in the same battle. The recent best seller having to do with his personal life is also fascinating.

Iceshark, Not at all. In essence the Admiral differed from the commander and chose that method of saying that Parker was wrong and he would fight the battle. In effect I am saying that mishedlo is stating something he knows is wrong as did Nelson. nelson knew of the signal as does mish know of the rambus problems...yet he comments to the contrary. He is not as good an Admiral as Nelson was and I fear that the good ship Rambus is heading for the rocks.
