Tough call. "Childhood's End" for the bigness of the idea. "2010" for its sheer space-opera readability. "The City and the Stars" because when I read it, it made this indescribable aesthetic impact on me.

I think I most greatly enjoyed his collections of short stories ... they were the pure stuff, applied with an almost Asian sense of minimalism.

His later books, such as the Rama series, didn't do it for me. He sort of lost focus.
