Great news !!!

eGuide --- explains the value of the directory to the corporate end user, opens up the possibility of Novell extending the login/authentication screen into a portal---needs a distribution model which allows the end user to self-install

Just-on --- internet file storage, needs to look like a disk drive to the end user, copy Windows Explorer look and feel/ let it sit on your desktop as an icon independant of a browser.

Other thoughts: DSL means small business server packages. Take a look at the instructions on the Novell site for setting up a Netware based DSL server and think of what to combine in a red box for the channel for small businesses.

Communities: When is Novell going to put one up for its customers?

Digitalme: The ecommerce portion, where is it?

In General: Take Just-On, eGuide, myrealbox, and digitalme, put them together and you have an end user group.

Count me in on any "End User Advisory" group for out-going products etc. from Novell. So many times I have followed the formal and even informal route to recommend changes, improvements, new functions/features, marketing misses on strategy, etc. for many of Novell's products. Most were politely not heard.

Paul is correct. Novell needs to do everything possible to make the industry's mouth water. A great example is the ICS cache. We just sold an ICS solution to a customer but the customer basically stumbled on the solution before we ran with the sale. Take a look around and see just how well advertised and promoted the ICS solution is on the various ICS Vendor web-sites. Try to find the IBM web site for its ICS solution and if you do find it, tell me "with your customer hat on" just how much information you really received from the page that you hopefully did find? I havent looked at the other sites, but I suspect most are lacking much of what IBM's site is missing.

PJ and I had mentioned that vendors should be ACTIVELY promoting a "Try & Buy" campaign for any customer with Internet Services and/or Web Site Hosting. Give the customer 30 days to try it out and if they are not completely satisfied in a how ICS improved there solution, the vendor will remove it.

Ahh, gotta run, another meeting. Cant complete my thoughts on this, but you get the idea.
