Attention Business/Technology/Sports Editors:

America's favorite pasttime and Canadian technology demonstrate the power of e-commerce

New York Mets online ticket sales projected to increase by 250% this
season using SureFire Commerce e-ticketing solution

MONTREAL, June 22 /CNW/ - Online ticket sales for the New York Mets will
top 150,000 this season, a 250 per cent increase over last season, making e-
commerce the second most popular way for Mets fans to purchase single game
tickets. Working with Montreal-based SureFire Commerce Inc., a leading e-
commerce solutions provider that built and manages the Mets online ticketing
applications, the team expects to sell in excess of US $5 million online this
season, up from last season's total of US $1.6 million.
"Our customers are increasingly buying online because we have been able
to offer a secure and reliable online environment, thanks to SureFire Commerce
technologies," said Mark Bingham, senior vice president, Marketing and
Broadcasting for the New York Mets.
According to Forrester Research, the Mets are not alone. The Internet
research firm predicts that online event ticketing sales will grow to $3.9
billion in 2004 from $300 million in 1999.
"This is a perfect example of how a major league sports team can
incorporate the power of the Internet and user friendly solutions to
dramatically increase sales," said Rory Olson, president and CEO of Montreal-
based SureFire Commerce. "The convenience and viability of online purchasing
at sites like www.mets.com is undeniable."
SureFire Commerce, a leader in transaction processing and merchant
enabling in North America, is targeting to process in excess of $1 billion in
transactional value on behalf of its clients during this fiscal year.
"When we acquired the Sports and Entertainment Division from BCE Emergis
last year, we made our intentions clear," said Mr. Olson. "SureFire intends to
aggressively pursue the very real opportunities present in the growth of
electronic commerce."
