Another point of view from the Yahoo Board that seems to take the middle ground. I too think the CC was loaded with softball questions. Can't we at least agree that management has dropped the ball here????

Management compensation

Alcoa
Paul O'Neill $6,400,000 for 107,700 employees = $60/employee

Vari-L
J. Kiser $613,000 for 219 employees = $2,800/employee

Granted there are economies of scale for Alcoa, but with such high pay shouldn't management doing a bang-up job for the shareholders?

Five-year record:
Alcoa - from 22 to 66 - a 200% increase
Vari-L - from 12 to 16 - a 33% increase

Management expects shareholders to be docile, take whatever management gives them and throw them softball questions. I think that shareholders work hard to save money, to investigate stocks, and we all put our time in at our jobs for much less pay.

I could sell my Vari-L stake but I think they have the best engineers and products in the wireless business and has tremendous potential. With a little prodding management might wake up to the fact that shareholder value does matter and everybody would benefit if they were more responsive to shareholders. I have sent emails and snail mails to Dave Sherman with absolutely no reply.
