Is it just me or does this smell bad? I was reading some of the fine print on the transaction that took Segate private. As you may know, our buddies at Silver Lake Partners engineered this transaction. What I only just discovered though, is that the investor group included Goldman Sachs Hmmmm? So let me see Goldman downgrades CS handing it a massive haircut and a couple of weeks later Silver Lake and CS announce that Silver Lake has increased their stake in CS at a 35% discount. How convenient!
