The FIG has been climbing for many months and now stands at an 11 year high. Greenspan considers this much more important than the backward looking and politically manipulated CPI. Obviously Greenspan also does not think gold is telling us anything about inflation anymore. The interesting thing is that inflationary pressures are building rapidly even in the face of a very strong dollar. Imagine what would happen if the dollar were to take a big hit.
