Nice interview with the CFO of Corning on RadioWallStreet today:

Highlights

70% of revenue from Telecom. Was 60% last year.
15% of revenue from Catalytic converter unit.
15% from Information systems (LCD screens).

Goal is to be the market leader in everything photonic except systems (will not compete with LU or NT there).

Looking at lots of M&A opportunities still.

Expanding role in Europe especially with Siemens purchase.

Spending 8% of revenue on R&D.

35% revenue growth expected this year.

Chinese factory coming online this year for catalytic converters as they convert to unleaded gas. Big potential.

GLW prefers to avoid spinoffs as there are synergies from overlapping R&D projects.

Information Display Segment has 50% revenue growth. Flat screens are rapidly penetrating the desktop market in addition to the obvious mobile screens. TV market about to open up. GLW has >50% market share in flat screens.
