I don't know if its MMs/specialists or institutions. I'm told (& I believe) options specialists tend to keep themselves neutral. Institutions are another beast altogether. All I know is a lot of $$$ went into puts this month and last & a lot of that money will be/has been lost. Is this familiar: I had some INSP puts, strike 50, against some shares in my retirement acct. Last week I tried to squeeze an extra 1/4 out of them...no fill. Now they're worthless. Of course, the underlying has appreciated more than I've lost on the puts but still...trying to squeeze 1/4s and 1/8ths....gotta stop that!!
